davekillcountysmith There must be something wrong with my ears. This album is sooo good, yet the band seems to be so unheard of. Sometimes when that happens, it’s because an album hits my sweet spot. But this one doesn’t. If anything, it’s a bit too poppy for my normal tastes. Yet, still it’s just such a great album. Great vocals. Great songs. Favorite track: Black Waterfall.

Black waterfall, don’t you know you break the color of day? Black waterfall, won’t you come and wash my color away before I turn grey? Black waterfall, won’t you draw me a portrait of who you loved and once knew? Black waterfall, won’t you call me down to the pew so that I can pray for you, so I can pray for you? And here it comes through the clouds again And when the sun shines through you I’ll see a grey rainbow turn blue Black waterfall, don’t you judge me until I’m through, and I’m through with you Black waterfall, you gotta change your water to blue before you come to Black waterfall, just throw me up against the wall and force me to crawl Black waterfall, wont you knock me upside the jaw? I believe I deserve it all, oh yes I deserve it all And here it comes through your eyes again And when the sun shines through you I’ll see a grey rainbow turn blue Black waterfall, oh my black waterfall, won’t you come change it all before you fall too deep in it all, before you fall No, the rocks aren’t that small at the end of the fall

Stone (free) 06:10
Waking up in some sort of dream Where the people never come to believe That all the while they stand there Nothing is what it seems Sunk into a certain old routine Has brought you to a point of no between With a feeling you can’t breathe From your head down to your knees And it’s a mighty strong mold that we make Full of all the forming we can take To turn into a stone that we hope won’t break in time Struggling to find what you seek And tired of this cold losing streak When a sudden sense unwinds And somehow brings you to your feet Now you’re fighting for a cause that you believe Living like the man you wish to be And you’re standing by those things That you know will set you free And it’s a mighty strong mold that we make Full of all the forming we can take To turn into a stone that we hope won’t break in time

Over/Under 03:56
Sometimes I sit and wonder (I sit and wonder) How you make it through your day (through your day) What’s the over/under (the over/under) On if I should have stayed? There are miles and miles between us (miles and miles) Borders beyond plains (beyond plains) To hear it through the wire just (ah) Doesn’t feel the same I’ll be waiting for that door to open up Let me inside; you’ve shown me enough The snow that will fall soon won’t be at all I’m trying to escape (try to escape) These tried and tested lines (tested lines) Every step I take (every step) Brings you closer to my mind Though I try and try (try and try) To greet a different point of view (point of view) We don’t see eye to eye (eye) But it somehow brings me back to you I’ll be waiting for that door to open up Let me inside; you’ve shown me enough The snow that will fall soon won’t be at all

Lonely Ghost 05:31
Traveling alone out in the middle of the dark I guess I never knew how fast a man could get lost Reaching out for something like a vine or simple ledge To help me through this next step overcoming what I’ve left To help me through this next step overcoming what I’ve left Suddenly he spoke to me in some odd foreign tongue I shrugged and figured that he must not be from where I’m from He said, “Brother, I got a deal for you it ain’t just for anyone I ain’t looking for a somebody, just a no good someone I ain’t looking for a somebody, just a no good someone” Can’t you see this lonely ghost has gone And sold his soul for a song That he listens in the wind To the melody within He hopes that it will never fall apart Into the middle of the dark Once that I had found myself I noticed he was gone He took all of my money and my clothes he left me none I started feeling funny, yeah and I know something had changed Cause I was feeling sunny when I know that it was rain Cause I was feeling sunny when clearly it was rain Can’t you see this lonely ghost is gone And sold his soul for a song That he listens in the wind To the melody within And he hopes that it will never fall apart It seems to me this lonely ghost is gone This highest hope has won And it glistens in the wind Never carries him within The fear that he once held in his heart Back in the middle of the dark (Oohs)

The Gallows 06:56
Tell me I’m wrong with what I say And tell me that I am wasting my time when I kneel down to pray But what is a man supposed to do When tied to a fate with a rope that’s headed straight for his doom Except laugh himself all the way to the gallows Guess I’ll laugh myself all the way to the gallows You say it’s a crime to do what I have done But stealing this food ain’t nothing compared to the tyrant you have become It may be the end of my days here But remember this face as you die in your place, a man who’s crippled with fear Cause I’ll be laughing myself all the way to the gallows Yeah I’ll be laughing myself all the way to the gallows And in this cold world so frail Life never seems to weep, wine or wail In this cold world so frail Life never seems to weep, wine or wail For the man whose left his life at the gallows Tell me I’m wrong with what I say Tell me that I am wasting my time when I kneel down to pray But what is a man supposed to do When tied to a fate with a rope that’s headed straight for his doom Except laugh himself all the way to the gallows Guess I’ll laugh myself all the way to the gallows Guess I’ll laugh myself all the way to the gallows

Meet me where the road it meets the sand Meet me where the sun it can barely stand Tell me that if I throw this stone from my hand That you, you will know right where it will land Among these sirens’ caves Where sons of gods have aged Show me how to learn from my fellow man Show me how to serve with these working hands Throw me about as far out as you can So I can get closer to this distant land And lay among these sirens’ caves Where sons of gods have aged And when my reign, oh it is gone I’ll leave you all here with this song Among these sirens’ caves Where sons of gods have aged

Peacemaker man, won’t you run ahead? Come to my home and settle my debt Peacemaker man, won’t you take a bed? It’s been a long while since you’ve rest your head To be here now or to be here then With what we really know, does it matter when? To be here now or to be here then We mustn’t lose our grip on ourselves within Peacemaker man, won’t you tell us when It’ll be safe to settle back in? Just waiting for tomorrow’s day to begin There’s no telling what, who, how, why or when To be here now or to be here then With what we really know, does it matter when? To be here now or to be here then We mustn’t lose our grip on ourselves within I’m kind of beat up I’m kind of lit up But the sign is still up Out on the side of my home (4x) To be here now or to be here then With what we really know, does it matter when? To be here now or to be here then We mustn’t lose our grip on ourselves within Just waiting for tomorrow’s day to begin There’s not telling what, who, how, why or when

Rosa Lee 04:13
Dropped by on a battle zone, I found love, it don’t wander here Capsized by this deadened road, all hope has been commandeered But in the dark comes a gleaming light that soon begins to shed this fear That all is lost and no good has won, but there shall be no futile tear So goodnight, Miss Rosa Lee, and good luck getting outta my head If in the morning you’re still lonely, I’m sure we’re both better off dead So goodnight, Miss Rosa Lee, I’m sure there ain’t a safer bet So in the morning you look closely cause this sun was never born to set You hit me like a sudden breeze in a desert of my own device Out of reach staying on the run, holding cold but never thinking twice Like a snake you try to wrap me up by surprise, but I ain’t easily snared Open arms would’ve done you good; this love lost is left in disrepair So goodnight, Miss Rosa Lee, and good luck getting outta my head If in the morning you’re still lonely, I’m sure we’re both better off dead So goodnight, Miss Rosa Lee, I’m sure there ain’t a safer bet So in the morning you look closely cause this sun was never born to set (Oohs) Goodnight, Miss Rosa Lee, and good luck getting outta my head If in the morning you’re still lonely, I’m sure we’re both better off dead So goodnight, Miss Rosa Lee, I’m sure there ain’t a safer bet So in the morning you look closely cause this sun was never born to set

She came along Just to lead me on Left me too afraid to be let down Arrested my heart Kept it in the dark That’s all over now Seeing my goodbyes In another’s eyes Waiting for a chance to be set free Looking for a sign Feeling left behind That’s all over now I met my maker (she was the one) She made me chase her Now that is done Never learned to share Couldn’t treat you fair Leave you on your own to just let go Put you on the shelf Kept you to myself But that’s all over now That’s all over now (2x)

The stars don’t mean that much to me when I can’t see them at all Like the bees don’t breed their honey seed when the sun ain’t got no soul This air just seems so cold to me like it’s not warming up at all It’ll love you now before you breathe, but it’ll break you when you fall I said there ain’t no time to waste When you know you gotta make the call I said there ain’t no time to waste When you know you gotta drop that ball When the sand and the desert they did first meet You know they weren’t really friends at all Til they recovered their lover from the sky above her When she took it just a little too far But then came along a little river so deep That you could barely even touch the floor It ran right through her heart; it beats so hard it’s gonna break these walls I said there ain’t no time to waste When you know you gotta make the call I said there ain’t no time to waste When there’s a love you need to follow Down to the river where the water is deep and you can barely even touch the floor (This cold embrace) I see you just standing there wading in the depths with a baby that you call your own (Ends not your fate) But why don’t you just lay her right down instead of watching her wash away (This cold embrace) Oh you know there ain’t nothing but the water and the rocks coming down anyways (Ends not your fate) Washed away to this day Feeling like I got me a shotgun tied to my waist, oh this cold embrace There’s a stock car baby with a roll in his back Cause he ain’t got anybody whose soul is still intact And all this feeling, these words we keep repeating Never seem to dig so deep in these souls so they can feel it again and again, again I said there ain’t no time to waste When you know you gotta make the call I said there ain’t no time to waste When there’s a love you need to follow Down to the river where the water is deep and you can barely even touch the floor (This cold embrace) I see you just standing there wading in the depths with a baby that you call your own (Ends not your fate) But why don’t you just lay her right down instead of watching her wash away (This cold embrace) Oh you know there ain’t nothing but the water and the rocks coming down anyways (Ends not your fate) This cold embrace, it ends not your fate (2x) This cold embrace is not your fate.
